About Publication #01
Northeast India clinical research remains an important but comparatively under-mapped component of India’s broader research ecosystem. Publication #01 presents an evidence-informed assessment of clinical and translational research capability across the eight Northeastern states, bringing together registry data, investigator and institutional evidence, documented research programmes, natural-product research, AYUSH activity and private and not-for-profit research-site evidence.
The publication examines where research activity is concentrated, what capabilities are already present, where evidence and infrastructure gaps remain, and what opportunities exist for stronger regional research connectivity. It is designed as both a research reference and a practical evidence base for investigators, institutions, sponsors, CROs, policymakers and other stakeholders interested in responsible research development in Northeast India.

Methodology
Publication #01 applies a defined-source, source-verified analytical framework to assess the clinical and translational research landscape across Northeast India.
The analysis combines regional clinical-trial registry data, Government of India sources, peer-reviewed literature and identified institutional evidence. Quantitative findings are derived from defined source material and are interpreted within the scope and definitions established in the publication.
The analytical framework distinguishes source evidence, derived analysis and interpretation, allowing readers to understand how the findings were assembled and where evidence coverage or comparability may be constrained.
Primary evidence sources include: Clinical Trials Registry–India (CTRI), Government of India sources, peer-reviewed literature and identified institutional sources.
Reference period for the primary registry evidence: 19 Jul 2021–20 Jul 2025.
Evidence Status & Provenance
The headline findings presented on this page are based on the defined evidence base and analytical framework described in Publication #01.
The assessment includes 84 registered trial records, 46 source-verified investigator records and 10 documented clinical/interventional research programmes, alongside additional evidence on natural-product research, institutional capacity and regional research priorities.
Sources, extraction/reference periods, definitions and analytical treatment are documented within the full publication and its accompanying evidence materials.

Limitations
The findings should be interpreted within the defined sources, reference periods, inclusion criteria and analytical framework of Publication #01. Registry records and institutional evidence may not capture every research activity undertaken across Northeast India, and differences in source coverage, reporting practices and available documentation may affect comparisons across states, institutions and research domains.
Accordingly, the publication presents a source-governed assessment of identifiable evidence, rather than a claim to provide a complete census of all clinical, translational or research activity in the region.
Where evidence is incomplete, unavailable or not directly comparable, the analysis does not treat absence of evidence as evidence of absence.
